As an ETL Developer in a Hadoop / Big Data environment, you will have the opportunity to work with/learn the BIG Data Technology stack (Hadoop, Talend, MapR). You will be responsible for performing development work for data warehouses, operational data stores,  and data marts support of the Optum business.  You will define and implement business intelligence/data warehouse/stores methodologies and solutions with appropriate Optum IT/industry standards, and best practices. You will work with Data Analysis and QA teams to develop data delivery/processing solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work on design and development of large volume data processing applications/operational stores in iterative/agile development model

  • Work with Data Analysis teams to verify requirements, and Source to Target mappings

  • Prepare design/solution analysis based on requirements from internal and external sources to evaluate and demonstrate program effectiveness and efficiency, and problem solving

  • Support Data Governance activities and be responsible for data integrity

  • Develop scalable reporting processes in collaboration with larger development team

  • Research complex functional data/analytical issues

  • Implement appropriate checks for data integrity, data quality as part of development effort

  • Make recommendations and communicate status to leadership as needed

  • Deliver high quality results in a fast changing and high growth business environment

  • Utilize Talend for ETL within a Hadoop/Big Data environment

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of ETL development experience (SSIS, Informatica, DataStage, Talend, etc.)
  • 5+ years of RDBMS development experience  
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing effective data strategies in enterprise level data stores, data marts or data warehouses
  • Available location for position is: Minnetonka, MN only

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Talend

  • Agile development  experience

  • Data modeling and data architecture experience

  • Experience  working in Big Data/Hadoop environment

  • Healthcare industry/claims experience

  • Experience developing innovative approaches
